DIY Loose Toilet Repair | Los Angeles

I'm pretty sure most of the time you don’t think about your Toilet. The only time you do is because your either cleaning it or having problems with it. The only person I can think of who constantly thinks about Toilets are Plumbers!

If your Toilet is loose, it is defiantly Leaking.

One of the most common and annoying Toilet Plumbing problems our Los Angeles clients face is a loose or shaky Toilet. An unstable Toilet is bound to become a Leaky Toilet quickly. Leaky Toilets can cause a lot of damage to the Bathroom flooring and into the foundation or room below.

Remember, as soon as the Toilet wobble or shake is noticed, the wax seal is damaged and should be fixed immediately to prevent further damage to your Los Angeles property. Got an unstable Toilet? Follow these steps to fix it.

Tools you will need:

  • Toilet Flange Repair Kit
  • Wax Ring
  • Bucket
  • Rag Towel or Sponge
  • Trash Bag
  • New Water Supply Line
  • Gloves

Steps:

  1. The first thing you will need to do is turn off the Water Supply.
  2. Flush your Leaky or unstable Toilet – this will empty the Toilet Tank of Water.
  3. If there is any remaining Water in the Toilet Tank remove it with a rag or sponge and squeeze the Water into your bucket - Remember to wear gloves.
  4. Remove Water Supply Line from the bottom of Toilet Tank.
  5. Remove the side nuts from the Toilet bolts on side of Toilet base and pull the Toilet straight up over bolts and set aside in a safe place.
  6. Remove old Wax Ring and clean the surrounding floor and Toilet base. Throw all your rags and old Wax Ring into the trash bag.
  7. Remove the old Toilet Flange and install new Toilet Flange with new bolts - don’t reuse the old bolts.
  8. Install a new Wax Ring and Water Supply Line.
  9. Lift Toilet over bolts and set down straight.
  10. Hand tighten the nuts over the Toilet bolts.
  11. Tighten Toilet Flange bolts gently until bolts feel snug and Toilet is stable.
  12. Caulk Toilet base and your done!
